I've run many virus programs. Spybot, Spyware Doctor, Malwarebytes, Adware plus the ones suggested on your prep page. They all find the same two viruses or Trojans and delete them. These are the two: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\ MS Juan and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\ MS track. I can then start Firefox or Internet Explorer without any problems until I try a Google or Yahoo search. As soon as I hit enter, I start getting multiple pop ups, videos start playing I even get music playing in the background that I can't shut off until I exit the browsers. I can then run Malwarebytes and remove the two mentioned above and all is well until the next time I do a search. Here is my input from Hyjack this"

I'm here and ready to get started.
Note: This all started with an infection of Virtumonde that Malwarebytes seemed to have cleared up leaving the infections I listed in my first post.

I have been trying various combinations of virus kill programs. The last set I tried, I finished with the latest Microsoft Windows malicious software removal tool (kb890830). It found a bunch of the hidden malware. I did a cleaning and rebooted. My Spybot popup's kept asking for permission to write to the registry. I kept denying it. This happened five or six times in a row. After that, I launched Firefox and did several searches with no popups. I then ran, Malwarebytes, Spybot and spyware Doctor. They found no instances of the Trojans or viruses. I don't know if my computer is clean now or if the virus is hiding ready to launch another attack later. What do you think?

Aloha,
My computer has been running a lot better with no pop ups since my last post to you. I hope that your suggestions of the deletions found in Hijackthis will have removed any further threats.

My computer locked up after completing the Kaspersky scans. I could save the file but the computer would not do anything else. I had to reboot. When the computer came back up it was SUPER fast. I did get three Spybot warnings: 1) system startuo global entry, sunjava update schd. I hit DENY. 2) activeX distribution unit, key added, I hit DENY. 3) global browser, value added. I hit DENY. Should I deny everything? I don't know what to accept.
Also CCleaner seems to only clean cookies for Internet Explorer. I use Firefox. After running CCleaner, I noticed all of the cookies that were in the left column to be cleaned (erased) were still there after running CCleaner. Any problem?

Hello!

Sorry to hear about your trouble with Kaspersky scan.

Should I deny everything?

You cant deny everything because you might actually stop a legitimate program doing its job. First popup is related to your Java.

Delete files and folders

Using Windows Explore by right-clicking the start button and left clicking Explore navigate to and find the following files and folders: if found, delete them (some may not be present after previous steps): Files:
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins\NPMySrWB.dll
Optional Fix

WeatherBug is a system tray icon that offers weather information and includes built-in ads. WeatherBug is controlled by AWS Convergence Technologies (weatherbugmedia.com). There is some controversy over whether WeatherBug should be targeted by anti-parasite software. AWS strongly deny their software is ‘spyware’, and by the definition used here, it is not, as it does not leak information back to its controlling servers. However, WeatherBug has in the past been silently installed by the FavoriteMan parasite and Freeze.com screensavers, and more recently has been bundled by software such as AIM and Blubster. This makes it ‘unsolicited’, and since it is installed to raise money for its creators through the built-in ads it is certainly ‘commercial’. So it does meet the definition for ‘parasite’: unsolicited commercial software. It is nonetheless listed as a borderline case because it is not overtly harmful and many people do install it deliberately. WeatherBug bundles the MySearch parasite in its standalone distribution and has in the past, installed Gator and SVAPlayer.

I recommend that you uninstall WeatherBugand choose one of these alternatives:
Weather Pulse
Weather Watcher
or
Get mozilla Firefox and then get FORECASTFOX!!!
or check the weather at these websites:
Weather Street: US Weather
Intellicast
To uninstall WeatherBug:
  • Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  • In Control Panel, double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  • In Add or Remove Programs, highlight WeatherBug, click Remove.
  • Close the Add or Remove Programs and the Control Panel windows.

I took your advice and uninstalled Weatherbug and installed Weather Watcher. I deleted the file C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins\NPMySrWB.dll
My computer seems to be back to normal and does run a lot faster. It looks like you did a superb job of diagnosing my malware problem for me. I really do appreciate it.

My computer seems to be back to normal and does run a lot faster. It looks like you did a superb job of diagnosing my malware problem for me. I really do appreciate it.

Thank you for your kind words. It was pleasure. Remember you did all the hard work.

Delete folders

Using Windows Explore by right-clicking the start button and left clicking Explore navigate to and find the following folders: if found, delete them (some may not be present after previous steps): Folders
C:\Program Files\AWS <---- Might not be present
C:\rsit
Your log now appears to be clean. Congratulations!

You can get rid of the tools we used:
  • RSIT (You can just delete the exe file from your desktop)
Please take the time to tell us what you would like to be done about the people who are behind all the problems you have had. We can only get something done about this if the people that we help, like you, are prepared to complain. We have a dedicated forum for collecting these complaints Malware Complaints. You need to be registered to post as, unfortunately, we were hit with too many spam posts to allow guest posting to continue. Just find your country room and register your complaint.

General Security and Computer Health
Below are some steps to follow in order to dramatically lower the chances of reinfection. You may have already implemented some of the steps below, however you should follow any steps that you have not already implemented.
  • Clear Infected System Restore Points
    • Turn System Restore off
    • On the Desktop, right click on the My Computer icon.
    • Click Properties.
    • Click the System Restore tab.
    • Check Turn off System Restore.
    • Click Apply, and then click OK.
      Restart your computer
    • Turn System Restore on
    • On the Desktop, right click on the My Computer icon.
    • Click Properties.
    • Click the System Restore tab.
    • Uncheck *Turn off System Restore*.
    • Click Apply, and then click OK.
Note: only do this once, and not on a regular basis
  • Set correct settings for files
    • Click Start > My Computer > Tools menu (at top of page) > Folder Options > View tab.
    • Under Hidden files and folders if necessary select Do not show hidden files and folders.
    • If unchecked please check Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)
    • If necessary check Display content of system folders
    • If necessary Uncheck Hide file extensions for known file types.
    • Click OK
  • Make sure that you keep your antivirus updated
New viruses come out every minute, so it is essential that you have the latest signatures for your antivirus program to provide you with the best possible protection from malicious software.
NOTE: You should only have one antivirus installed at a time. Having more than one antivirus program installed at once is likely to cause conflicts and may well decrease your overall protection as well as impairing the performance of your PC.
  • Security Updates for Windows, Internet Explorer & Microsoft Office
Whenever a security problem in its software is found, Microsoft will usually create a patch so that after the patch is installed, attackers can't use the vulnerability to install malicious software on your PC. Keeping up with these patches will help to prevent malicious software being installed on your PC. Ensure you are registered for Windows updates via Start > right-click on My Computer > Properties > Automatic Updates tab or visit the Microsoft Update site on a regular basis.
NOTE: The update process uses ActiveX, so you will need to use internet explorer for it and allow the ActiveX control to install.
  • Update Non-Microsoft Programs
Microsoft isn't the only company whose products can contain security vulnerabilities. To check whether other programs running on your PC are in need of an update, you can use the Secunia Software Inspector - I suggest that you run it at least once a month.
  • Make Internet Explorer More Secure
You are using Internet Explorer v. 7. Therefore please read and follow the recommendations at this SITE
Recommended Programs

I would recommend the download and installation of some or all of the following programs (if not already present), and the updating of them on a regular basis.
  • WinPatrol
As a robust security monitor, WinPatrol will alert you to hijackings, malware attacks and critical changes made to your computer without your permission. WinPatrol takes snapshot of your critical system resources and alerts you to any changes that may occur without your knowledge. For more information, please visit HERE.
  • SpywareBlaster
SpywareBlaster sets killbits in the registry to prevent known malicious ActiveX controls from installing on your computer. If you don't know what ActiveX controls are, see HERE. You can download SpywareBlaster from HERE.
  • Hosts File
For added protection you may also like to add a host file. A simple explanation of what a Hosts file does is HERE and for more information regarding host files read HERE.
  • Use an alternative Internet Browser
Many of the exploits are directed to users of Internet Explorer. Try using a different browser instead:Firefox or Opera
Finally I am trying to make one point very clear. It is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL to keep all of your security programs up to date.

I'd be grateful if you could reply to this post so that I know you have read it and, if you've no other questions, the thread can be closed.

Happy surfing and stay clean!

Aloha Bio-Hazard,
I have completed all tasks asked for. I have installed WinPatrol, Spyware Blaster and Secunia Software Inspector. I never use Internet Explorer except when I am updating. I use Firefox. As for antivirus programs, I was running AVG when all of this started. I then bought SpywareDoctor +AntiVirus as it was recommended as the best tool to remove the Vertumonde virus. It failed. I went online and asked what to do and it was recommended that I download and use Malwarebytes. Malwarebytes took care of most of my major problems. I was also using Adware to assist. It was at this point that you jumped in to save my floundering butt.
You recommended that I only run one antivirus tool at a time. Which one would you suggest? Any that I now have? Another, better tool or?

Hello!

You can run them together. Spywaredoctor is not full antivirus program. I would recommend to keep Malwarebytes Antimalware as a scanner. It is a excellent program.
