I did a windows update. It took 35 minutes. It was called Microsoft, Net
Framework 1.1 Service pack 1 (update 1 of 1 ). I had to reboot after this was installed.

Before, my Defrag kept saying it was not installed, now it says:

The Snap in is not created, it may not be installed properly.
Name: Defragmenter CLSID:(43668E21-2636-11D1-AICE-0080C88593A5)
Anyway it wouldn't run.

Disk check ran OK, so did scan disk (although it takes a long time) I am running XP

Any help would be appreciated, Jan

Uninstall the Microsoft.Net Framework from Add/Remove programs and try again. That is a web developers tool and frequently causes problems when its downloaded through Windows Updates on computers where its not needed.

I know a little late but, thanks I will try this. We are still having problems with the defrag. I downloaded a trialware defrag program to use for now and it is working OK. Would still like to get the original Windows defrag to work, so I will try this.
Thanks again, Jan
