I notice, on my daughter's computer, that there are Java ™ updates to install. The reminder is in the task bar just like the official windows updates. Please advise. Is this something dodgy that she has downloaded or are these bona fide updates that will improve her computer?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Lulabelle,

It's nothing bad thing or anything,
It's just new updates for an application called "Java" - Java is used on websites.

I'm not exactly how to explain to you what Java is, but I can atleast tell you that this is not any virus/malware/ or any other bad thing - It's just new updates to it as you update your computer through windows update - this updates the JAVA Application.

Have fun.

For those interested, here is a good definition of what Java is:

It is based on c++ and is a popular web tool because of its cross-platform nature.

John

Thank you all for your comments. I have duly accepted the updates.

As always, BC has come up with the answer.
