Hi,

I have been infected with some sort of virus from a fake youtube.com link. It is slowing down my internet browsing and when I search google it is taking me to different sites to the links that I have clicked on. I have done AdAware, Spybot S&D, F-Secure and Panda scans which found the following problems:

- AdAware.BHO(generic)
- ch3.exe
- bolivar.exe
- Fake.Security Alert
- Win32.BHO.je
- tinyproxy.exe

I cannot seem to remove any of these though, even when the scanner says it has removed it.

The results from the Panda scan are shown below:

Hi,

I have run Combo-fix, but I cannot seem to get back on the internet. I have been through all the steps at the bottom of http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix but it didn't seem to work. When I try and repair the "Local Area Connection" I get "Windows finished repairing your connection. You can try connecting again. If the problem persists, contact the person who manages your network."

Please find the ComboFix and HJT logs below:

Hi,

I have run Combo-fix, but I cannot seem to get back on the internet.

This is because this infection. It has set a proxyserver. To fix this...
In IE: Tools Menu -> Internet Options -> Connections Tab ->Lan Settings > uncheck "use a proxy server" or reconfigure the Proxy server again in case you have set it previously.
In Firefox in Tools Menu -> Options... -> Advanced Tab -> Network Tab -> "Settings" under Connection and uncheck the proxyserver.

But we're not finished yet...

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = http=127.0.0.1:9090
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = *.local;<local>
O23 - Service: System Event Notification (SENS) - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\tinyproxy\tinyproxy.exe (file missing)

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!

Then, go to start > run and copy and paste next command in the field (including the quotes):

sc delete "System Event Notification (SENS) " <== do not delete that extra space after ) and the ", because it's supposed to be like that.

Then hit enter.

Then, * Open notepad - don't use any other texteditor than notepad or the script will fail.
Copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into notepad:

File::
c:\windows\f49f4d98.dat
c:\windows\be49f4d98.dat
c:\windows\f49f4daa.dat
c:\windows\bemark2.dat
c:\windows\be49f4daa.dat
Registry::
[HKLM\~\services\sharedaccess\parameters\firewallpolicy\standardprofile\GloballyOpenPorts\List]
"9090:TCP"=-
"53:TCP"=-

Save this as txtfile CFScript

Then drag the CFScript into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below.

Posted Image

This will start ComboFix again. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply together with a new HijackThislog.

Hi,

This looks OK again.

* Go to start > run and copy and paste next command in the field:

ComboFix /u

Make sure there's a space between Combofix and /
Then hit enter.

This will uninstall Combofix, delete its related folders and files, reset your clock settings, hide file extensions, hide the system/hidden files and resets System Restore again.

Let me know in your next reply how things are now.

Things looks excellent at this end

I have run AdAware, SpyBot S&D and FSecure scans which have found nothing.

Thanks for all your help!
