Initially my problem started as an issue w/ booting my comp up.... it would just get stuck at windows xp loading screen.... then i ran CHKDSK and i guess it repaired a couple of errors it found, and now it boots up OK.... now my computer freezes right about the time my screen saver should kick in... my mouse will still move but the computer clock stops, and nothing on the screen can be selected.... completely lost.... any help would be appreciated....

Peace.

Run CHKDSK again and see if it is still reporting errors.

Try reinstalling your video driver:

If you get repeated errors when using chkdsk - I'd have to suspect the hard drive. Try a diagnostic from the website of the hard drive manufacturer. There's a list of the most common ones here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/28744/hard-drive-installation-and-diagnostic-tools/
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

Did you run the hardware diagnostic?

What's the make and model number of your computer (eg. Dell Latitude D830)?
