I have had a my Satellite Toshiba laptop for 2 years, recently a window pops up saying do I want Outlook Express to condense messages or something, I really don't want Outlook Express at all!

Unless it is integral to the function of the computer I just can't see me ever using it! Something I did playing around with the computer turned it on. I can't seem to delete it or stop it from coming on at the beginning when I turn on the laptop.

I went to Add Delete, chose Windows and found Outlook Express. I check off Outlook Express and it still shows up. I remove the check and it still shows up - what do I do now? (Not at that laptop, using a Mac just now.) Outlook Express doesn't show up under search function on that laptop.

Thank you.

If the message is stating to "Compact folders" then read this >> Why does OE insist on compacting folders?. Within that link is a way to modify your Registry to stop it doing so altogether if it continues. If the need to modify the entry is necessary, make sure you read this first >> How to backup the Windows XP Registry.

It is integrated into the OS. The Add/Remove method you used does not actually uninstall it it just removes access to it from your All Programs list & Desktop as well as removing the exe from the Outlook Express program folder.

I can't seem to delete it or stop it from coming on at the beginning when I turn on the laptop.

If you mean it starts when the laptop starts try looking in Start > All Programs > Startup & if msimn.exe is listed, right click on it & select Delete. Or you could download Autoruns from Here. No install is necessary. Just run it & look for the entry msimn.exe Outlook Express & uncheck it & or delete it.
