Hi,

This is the first time posting in here. Before I did I read the FAQ's and the sections on what to look for first in regard to pc setup, defragging, etc, etc. I have tried everything. I have ran Spybot S&D in safe mode, I've ran my virus software, I have cleaned up my pc and my browser with no improvements. I then contacted my service provider and they said it's definitely my pc as something running on it seems to be degrading my signal terribly. I tried another pc on the same wireless network and it fly's, so it's definitely this one. I'm not sure when this begun it was a few months ago and I can't think of anything that changed.

Can someone please help me with resolving this issue?

Here is my hijackthis log:

Hey Nemessiss,

Welcome to BleepingComputer Forums! I'm Ltangelic and I'll be helping you fix your computer problem.

Take note that I'm still in training, and my posts will have to be checked by an expert. This may cause delays in between my responses, I ask for your patience. Please stick with me until we get your computer cleaned up or it will be a wasted effort on both sides. ;)

I'm looking at your log now, and I'll post back with a fix when I'm ready. Thanks for your patience.

PS. If I've not been responding, and you wonder why, feel free to PM me and I'll give an explanation.

Hey Nemessiss,

Your log don't show much, let's run deeper scan. ;)
  • Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt (<<will be maximized) and info.txt (<<will be minimized)

Hey Nemessiss,

Your logs don't look too bad, let's run some tools to remove the orphaned entries. ;)

Please follow my instructions in the order they were given, and print out a copy of it as you may not have access to the forums during the fix.

1) Uninstall Programs

J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 3
Java™ 6 Update 2
Java™ 6 Update 3
Java™ 6 Update 5
Java™ SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1

Reboot your computer.

2) Fix entries with HijackThis

Please re-open HijackThis and Do a System Scan Only. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O2 - BHO: NCO 2.0 IE BHO - {602ADB0E-4AFF-4217-8AA1-95DAC4DFA408} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: Symantec Intrusion Prevention - {6D53EC84-6AAE-4787-AEEE-F4628F01010C} - C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\SYMANT~1\IDS\IPSBHO.dll (file missing)
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {7FEBEFE3-6B19-4349-98D2-FFB09D4B49CA} - (no file)

Now close all windows other than HijackThis, then click Fix Checked. Close HijackThis and reboot your computer.

3) Run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Next reply (please include):

Fresh RSIT log (re-run RSIT)
MBAM scan log

PS. I will be away from 4th to 5th November, please be patient and I'll get back with a fix as soon as I can, thanks for your understanding.

Since following your instructions (which I appreciate greatly) I also removed Norton 360 from my pc, installed Avast and Zone Alarm firewall. After installing the firewall my download speeds jumped back to what they are supposed to be. I'm still not sure that my pc is clean since the only thing that is probably stopping the download speed issue is that the Zone Alarm firewall is blocking the offending program from blocking my internet. I've also noticed that FF3 is 10 times faster than my IE7, and there are alot of addons within IE that I didn't put there. I was going to go through the list and disable all that I found but there are so many of them I would be there forever. Is there a way to clean IE as well so that I can eliminate that as a potential cause as well?

thanks again.

Hey Nemessiss,

I have returned and will be taking over extremeboy from here onwards. ;)

Could you post me a fresh RSIT log as well? Just re-run RSIT will do. Thanks.
