Well, I removed Antivirus 2009 along with a couple of others things with SuperAntispyware. After a reboot, Windows comes up to a blank screen after logon. Invoking Task Manager and trying to run tasks will result in:

"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel."

Unfortunately, this includes ALL EXEs, COMs, and REG files. (I've tried them all.)

Is a rebuild in order at this point?

Do you have an original Windows CD?
You can try sfc /scannow or do a repair install
Have you tried rebooting into safemode and select, "last known good configuration"?

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around
