Hello,
I somehow picked up an infection. I get an IE browser redirect when I enter passwords (so I have killed IE in zone alarm) and random ad redirects in firefox. I have followed the instructions completely and come up with nothing!
It shut down system restore, and erased all restore points, (got it running again).

Avast antivirus finds nothing
Spybot finds nothing
AdAware finds nothing
Spyware Blaster is up to date
Windows updates are up to date (ran malicious removal tool manually, too)

Still no relief.

Andrew

Good Evening,
Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately, whatever it was, it got to the point where I could no longer boot properly and if I booted in Safe Mode, it would repeatedly cycle through the ASR console, but would not run. I managed to back up most of my personal files, but ultimately wiped everything out and started fresh.
The HJT log I submitted was the latest (before final failure). I could not find anything that seemed out of order, perhaps it will help someone else.
I will stick around the forum, it's a great place for answers.
Andrew

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear it. What stood out to me, just so you know, were these entries :

O20 - AppInit_DLLs: wbsys.dll,C:\WINDOWS\System32\els32.dll
O20 - Winlogon Notify: 300082bf488 - C:\WINDOWS\System32\els32.dll

http://www.prevx.com/filenames/13723802327...ELS322EDLL.html

The wbsys.dll refers to WindowsBlinds, but the Winlogon Notify, there was nothing on it except for the .dll which was bad. There was likely more that we couldn't see, so maybe it was best you started over. I am sorry you had to wait though. There are several hundred just like you waiting at any given time here. :)

Kind regards,
tea

Thanks for the consult. I do use windowblinds, maybe the little bugger corrupted the logon file, since I was in fact, unable to get to the logon window.
I did try a windows repair, it worked once and was unsuccessful the second time.
Regard,
andrew
