Thanks for the Shout, Mate.

Last time I had problems installing SP2, I found out it worked out better to do it after a Clean Install of Windows XP. But before you do that Please back up everything onto CD/DVD Disks, another Slave Drive or external Drive? The Re-Format and reinstall will wipe it all!

After you Back up it all we can proceed?

Denish, did you use the HP CD to make this installation, and did you install the drivers?

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

Thanks .

There are a couple of basic things I will ask you to do, so bear with me.

Go Start/Run...type in devmgmt.msc, hit Enter or OK.

Do you see any yellow or red markings (question mark or exclamation point) which indicate a problem with anything?

If so...can you post the description of the device as it is currently reflected and tell me whether the marking yellow or red?

Do you have a Microsoft XP CD issued by Microsoft?

This is the link for drivers which are for your system: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwar...product=1845053

If you need drivers, please take them from this link.

As for your problem with your ATI video...I suggest that you go to Device Manager, uninstall your display adapter...reboot the system and then try to install the video driver for your system, after the system has completely booted.

It helps us if you post any error messages that you receive when trying to install the drivers, etc.

hi hami thanks again for the reply,

in the devicemanager there is a problem with the OTHER DEVICES(i see an yellow exclamation marking)

pci simple communication controller
sm bus controller
video controller(vga compatible).

and the cd is my friend cd and it may not be original microsoft cd.Thats what my question is that if it is not original then is their is any way to download the missing files from microsoft website or i have to try a new original cd.please answer this question.

i tried to install video drivers(ATI display drivers ) but i popups a message that "RPC server is unavailable".but i installed all other drivers.

First point: I would go to the HP website and download any drivers which need to be installed.

Without seeing this CD that you are referring to...I cannot tell you whether it should work or not.

If it's a copy of a legal MS install CD, it should work. If it is an illegal copy of XP such as are available by downloading torrents...I have no experience but I see plenty of users with problems with such.

Did you try to install the video drivers...in the manner that I previously suggested?

If you still get problems re:RPC Server not available, try the following (But only if you still have problems after downloading the drivers from HP)

Click Start->Run
Type Cmd Click OK
Type "net start server" as shown without quotes
If it gives an error, post it back here.
