This No Sound thing has fianally come around to some facts, so if some sound technicians are out there, here is a piece of Cake for you !

I would like to run this by you as best I can , I have the, Sound and Audio Device Properties, "No Audio Device", and Status- 0x01802400 Has Problem, Problem 0x0000000a(10) on the Compaq
4403 US, . . but my 5300, that has an OS that was installed the same way I installed the 4403, from restore disc and sp2 upgrade disc.
I have found quite some difference between the two when it comes the Sound and Video Devices
regarding the System Information of the 4403US Compared to 5300US basically the same system.

I am hoping that a knowledgable person may be able to determine what has happened by viewing this
data, and put me on to the necessary steps to solve this age old problem that does not have an answer per most sources. However I think that someone here may be able to find an answer with the following informations;

Hi Jove.
The correct audio driver for the 4403US (there is only one) is here.
However, read the "prerequisits" at the bottom. Those must be taken care of first
You will need to know which chipset it has and install the appropriate rompaq before installing the audio driver.
As stated on the page, SSM and DX version requirements are listed as well.
Because there is an install order, you'll want to remove any current audio drivers\software first thing.
Once you've got that stuff removed, do the prerequisits first, audio driver last.

Concerning the 4403US, Before proceeding any further, Ive decided to D/L SP3 from Windows Update, since the original, SP2 Upgrade from disc installation was doubtful at best.
This may update some drivers, as I have not been able to install using the re-installation procedure, for some questionable driver situations.

This will take a few hours , and will be done tonight, so I'll more than likely get back to you tomorrow.

sp27103.exe is the audio driver only for your computer. (presario 4403US - XP) as stated at the very top of the page in the link I left you. There is no other audio driver for it. I short cutted the links to save you time. :thumbsup:
What you must be sure of is the rompaq first. That depends on your motherboard chipset. Just so we're on the same page, you got that part already handled?
