I have a Toshiba Portage 3500 that constantly reboots upon powerup. I can access the system startup menu, but I cant do anything else. Upon power up it appears to be trying to start win XP, but reboots in the midle.
HELP.

PS- I have called Toshiba, who suggested I send it off. If anyone can help, It would be appeciated.

First I'd suggest a bootable hard drive diagnostic to rule out any issues with the drive itself.

Download the Hitachi Drive Fitness Test from this link: http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/download.htm#DFT
You'll want the CD Image.
You'll need a program to burn an ISO image to a CD - if you don't have one, post back and we'll recommend some free alternatives.
Once the ISO image is burned to the CD, the CD will be bootable.
Insert it in the drive, and reboot the system. Press F12 to access the boot menu in order to boot from the CD.

There's more detail in the Drive Fitness Test Users Guide link on the same page.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
