access denied when you click on the C: icon? have you tried typing "C:\" in the address bar?
Beneath wings of darkness, wings of death, I dwell in shadows,
Here I have found a kingdom, here I have found a princess; the princess of darkness.
She's the only one I fear, my princess wrapped in shadows, my princess beloved.

What actions give you the access denied error? If it's just when you download something, I'd suspect it's the location where you're trying to save it. Try changing the location to your Documents folder and see if that helps.

Are you running as Administrator or a user that has access to write files to the c:?

C:\>cacls c:
C:\ BUILTIN\Administrators:(OI)(CI)F
	NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:(OI)(CI)F
	CREATOR OWNER:(OI)(CI)(IO)F
	BUILTIN\Users:(OI)(CI)R
	BUILTIN\Users:(CI)(special access:)
					  FILE_APPEND_DATA

	BUILTIN\Users:(CI)(IO)(special access:)
						  FILE_WRITE_DATA

	Everyone:R

C:\>

Try running cacls on your c: from command prompt and show us the results.

Could this be associated with your other post here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/175269/lauch-startup-repair-recommeded/
Could this be due to a malware infection?
Have you run a hard drive diagnostic (they're available for free from the manufacturer of your hard drive)? This topic has links to the most common ones: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/28744/hard-drive-installation-and-diagnostic-tools/

Find out the manufacturer of your hard drive.
Go to the link above and find that manufacturer's support website
Download their diagnostic and run it.
