After installing a pc game (original discs) norton anti-virus blocks the running of the game and reports ' backdoor.ranky ' a trojan virus,it does not offer removal or quarantine of the trojan.
Norton does not detect it with scans and spysweeper does not detect it.

I used an online trojan detector program and an on line anti-virus scanner with both stating pc is clean, this was done in safe mode and sysyem restore disabled.

So is this a false report by norton when attempting to run this game?

I'd say it's a false positive, but let's move you to Am I Infected? and see what they think
