Hello,

You don't have even an antivirus or a firewall installed on your system. That is very risky!

First of all, disable your spysweeper, because it can interfere with the fixes.
When you enable it again, make sure you allow everything in your spysweeper, because those are the changes you made yourself, so don't let spysweeper block it again.

* Uninstall Media Access via add/remove programs.

Reboot.

* Download: Hoster
Unzip hoster to an own folder, eg C:\Hoster
Start Hoster.exe, click 'Restore Original Hosts' and click OK.

* Perform an onlinescan with housecall and/or Etrust and let it delete everything it is finding.

Download http://www.trojaner-info.de/cgi-bin/downlo...gi?file=sphjfix
Unzip it to your desktop.

Start SpSeHjfix and click "Start disinfection"

Let it finish the job.

Restore your websettings: Go to start > controlpanel > Internetoptions > Tab Programs.
Click: "Restore Websettings"

When done, post a new hijackthislog together with the log that SpSeHjfix produced. (it's in the same folder as SpSeHjfix)

Hi, can you try this in safe mode?

It also seems that you managed getting some new spyware.

Try to perform my steps in safe mode first and post a new hijackthislog.
No need the perform the online scans now.

Hi,

There's another way to get into safe mode though.
Go to start > run and type msconfig <OK>
Select the tab: Boot.ini and check Safeboot.
Click apply and OK.
It'll ask you if you want to reboot. Click yes.
Now your system will boot in safe mode.

If you want to boot back in normal mode, just uncheck the Safeboot again.

While in safe mode.. perform next steps:

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

C:\Program Files\Media Access\MediaAccess.exe
C:\Program Files\Media Access\MediaAccK.exe

Let's use something else that does the same as cleanmgr.
Yes I know you can't get to any securityrelated site, because that's what the infection does, it blocks it in your hostsfile.

* Download and install CCleaner
Do not use it yet.

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

* Reboot into Safe Mode`:
°To get into the Safe mode as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 Key". Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key.

* Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them if still present:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\formatsys.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\serbw.exe
C:\WINDOWS\msmbw.exe <== doublecheck if this one is really gone.

* Run hoster again.

* Go to start > control panel > Display properties > Desktop > Customize Desktop... > Web tab > uncheck and delete everything you find in there.
Now reset your wallpaper.

* Still in safe mode Run Ccleaner and click Run Cleaner (bottom right)

* Reboot your system back to normal mode.

Post back a fresh HijackThis log and I'll take another look.

Great.. !!

And your log looks clean again. Good job!

Now I strongly advise you install an antivirus and a firewall, because you really need them, otherwise malware can get installed very easily.
Also update your windows to SP2!

AVG, Bitdefender OR Avast are good FREE antivirus.
Never install more than one antivirusscanner or firewall on your system! Several together can give problems and decreases the reliability of it seriously!
Zonealarm OR Sygate are FREE firewalls.

To keep this clean in the future, I would suggest the following things:

Install Spywareblaster
SpywareBlaster doesn`t scan and clean for so-called spyware, but prevents it from being installed in the first place. It blocks the popular spyware ActiveX controls, and also prevents the installation of any of them via a webpage.

Let your antispywarescanner(s) scan frequently and don't forget to update before.

And I do suggest you perform an online virusscan once in a while. (Kaspersky online and/or Bitdefender). Because what one virusscanner can't find another one maybe can.
Also make sure that your virusscanner, the one that is installed on your system is always up to date!

Make sure your windows has the latest updates: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

More info on how to prevent malware you can also find here (By Tony Klein)
