You need to reinstall the drivers. Do you have the motherboard disk? If this is a retail unit, what is the make and model?

Depending on the make and model of the system, the SMBus Controller is usually a device associated with your motherboard. I've also found (on some systems) that it's actually the SD card reader - so you may want to try installing the driver for that also.

Go to this page and enter your service tag number: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/...;l=en&s=gen
It'll list the drivers for your system.
