If you find you are squinting to read all the stuff in your task bar, go to a blank portion of your desktop and RightClick, left click on PROPERTIES and APPEARANCE. Down at the bottom left of the box you will see FONT SIZE. Click on the arrow at right and choose LARGE or EXTRA LARGE, then OK. Text is instantly more readable.

One of the joys of getting older, LOL.

Cheers

Just came across this tip which is also good for ailing eyes -

Eagle-eyed fans will already have noted some minor interface changes coming in Windows 7, among them much larger and more useful Quick Launch icons in the Windows Taskbar. Tweak your XP or Vista interface to look more like the coming incarnation of Windows by taking advantage of a little-known feature. First, right-click any open space in the Taskbar and deselect "Lock the Taskbar." Then right-click the drag bar on the Quick Launch menu's LEFT-HAND side; from this menu you can change the size of icons (VIEW/ LARGE ICONS) and insert or remove labels for each one. Be sure to lock the Taskbar when you're through.

(There must be hundreds of handy little things like this which Joe Bloggs would never be aware of. WHY???)
