Whenever I try to enter Standby mode, all that happens is a screen comes up saying "preparing to enter Standby mode" or something to that effect, and just stays there.

Any ideas?

Try reinstalling your video driver. You'd be surprised how many Standby problems are caused by screwy video drivers.

Well, tell me who one of those "many people" are, so I can possibly learn more, Mr. Gates.

That tutorial is pretty specific - just follow the steps.

I have to say that your attitude is not conducive to convincing many of the great volunteers at this site to assist you.
