I suspect my portbale being infected. I tried everything I've read from this forum.
Oldtimer helped vituromonde issues on this issue on 19/07/2008. But as his solution was user specific ... I'm also calling
for help.

I already did the ATFCleaner part.
I already have OTScanIt ready to be used.
The Avenger part is the one I skipped as it was user specific on what hat to be done.
I also did both on line scanners.

All anti-virus software I have recognize the "rqRLdAss.dll" in my register.
They all say that it was succesfully removed ... but it hasn't

Can someone assist me further on fixing this issue please ?

Kind regards, ... Rob

I'm sorry, but I'm very new in this 'forum' world.
I see from other posts that almost everybody includes a HijackThis Log file.
Maybe I should do that to ?
I sure hope someone can assist me in killing this malware ?

Many thnx in advance !

Is there anybody who can tell me if I'm doing something wrong.
Am I being too impatient here ?

I really would appreciate any help I can get on this "rqRLdAss.dll" issue.

Hello RobBob_BEL,

I'm sorry, but I'm very new in this 'forum' world.
I see from other posts that almost everybody includes a HijackThis Log file.

If you read and followed
Preparation Guide For Use Before Posting A Hijackthis Log, Instructions for receiving help in cleaning your computer you will see we ask that you post a Hijackthis log, run Spybot, AdAware, a virus scanner.

Am I being too impatient here ?

Yes, you are.
We have several hundred logs backed up, so that is the reason for the delay.

It is not a good idea to "Bump" your post, as it will only delay
help for your log.

When selecting logs we generally use two criteria to
look for unanswered logs.

1. We started from the oldest to the most recent. That means if you
keep bumping, your log is at the top of the list, and since we do not work
from the top, it will be looked at last!!

2. We look for first for posts with no replies. A bump is a reply so
you get pushed further down the response ladder
.

I already have OTScanIt ready to be used.

What version of OTScanIt are you using?
It is updated frequently and I need to be using the latest version.

2) I've also ran Spybot Search & Destroy (Version 1.6.0.31 with the latest updates)
Results: Nothing found !!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3) Ad-aware is not running on my portable (Somehow, the software works but I'm not able to get updates from the net ... I read it was a Windows Vista related problem ?).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4) The OTScanIt version I used was 1.0.19.0 (Do I have to run it again ?).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5) What other software have I been using ?

- CCleaner V2.03.532
- AVG Anti Virus Free V8.0.173
- AVG Anti-Rootkit Free V1.1.0.42
- Avira Antivir Personal V8.1.0.331
- Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware V1.29 (This one detects the registry entry rqRLdAss.dll each time, fixes it, but at the next scan ... it's right there again).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I ran all this software in 'normal' startup mode as well as in 'Safe mode'.

Thnx again for your tips, I will not bump my topic again over nothing. I hope this is the first step in a succesfull removal.

Hello Rob,

Since it has been a few days since you run AFT Cleaner, lets start over.

Before running a new scan let's clean out the temporary folders.
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browser, do this also:
  • Click Firefox at the top and choose Select All from the list.
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
  • NOTE : If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browser, do this also:
  • Click Opera at the top and choose Select All from the list.
  • Close ALL Internet browsers (very important).
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
  • NOTE : If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

The OTScanIt version I used was 1.0.19.0 (Do I have to run it again ?).

No, that is the latest version.

Note: You must be logged on to the system with an account that has Administrator privileges to run this program.
  • Close ALL OTHER PROGRAMS.
  • Open the OTScanIt folder and double-click on OTScanIt.exe to start the program (if you are running on Vista then right-click the program and choose Run as Administrator).
  • In the Drivers section click on Non-Microsoft.
  • Under Additional Scans click the checkboxes in front of the following items to select them:
    • Reg - BotCheck

      File - Additional Folder Scans

  • Do not change any other settings.
  • Now click the Run Scan button on the toolbar.
  • Let it run unhindered until it finishes.
  • When the scan is complete Notepad will open with the report file loaded in it.
  • Click the Format menu and make sure that Wordwrap is not checked. If it is then click on it to uncheck it.
Use the Add Reply button and Copy/Paste the information and upload it to me.
I will review it when it comes in. Make sure that the first line is code with brackets around it [] and that the last line is /code with brackets around it [].

Please upload the report to me here.
Let me know when you post it.

Hello SifuMike, ... I did every step as requested.
Here's the OTScanIt result. (Apparantly it is too big to be pasted into this post ... is this possible.
The OTSCANIT.TXT file has a size of 744kb on my disk ???).
I also send the report to you (2 minutes ago) (I hope I did everything in the correct order).

...

I must be doing something wrong because when I want to reply to you WITH the OTSCANIT result pasted in here ...
I get underlying message:
The error returned was:
Sorry, your post was too long, please reduce it

Therefore I hope that the file itself send to you via http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/submit-mal....php?channel=51 is also good ?

HI Rob,

I notice that you have Spybot's TeaTimer running.
While this is normally a wonderful tool to protect against hijackers, it can also interfere with the fixes.
please disable TeaTimer by doing the following:
1) Run Spybot-S&D
2) Go to the Mode menu, and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected
3) On the left hand side, choose Tools -> Resident
4) Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts

You can reenable TeaTimer once your system is clean.

Open the OTScanIt folder and double-click on OTScanIt.exe to start the program (if you are running on Vista then right-click the program and choose Run as Administrator).

Copy/Paste the information in the codebox below into the pane where it says "Paste fix here" and then click the Run Fix button.

[Kill Explorer]
[Registry - Non-Microsoft Only]
< Run [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\] > -> HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
YN -> MSServer -> %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Temp\rqRLdAss.DLL [rundll32.exe C:\Users\Rob-IT\AppData\Local\Temp\rqRLdAss.dll,#1]
[Files/Folders - Created Within 30 days]
NY -> 1 C:\*.tmp files -> C:\*.tmp
[Files/Folders - Modified Within 30 days]
NY -> 1 C:\*.tmp files -> C:\*.tmp
[Empty Temp Folders]
[Start Explorer]
[Reboot]

The fix should only take a very short time.
When the fix is completed either a message box will popup telling you that it is finished or you will be asked to reboot to finish the fix.
If it is finished, click the Ok button and Notepad will open with a log of actions taken during the fix. Post that information back here.

If a reboot is required, click the "Yes" button to reboot the machine.
After the reboot, OTScanIt will finish moving any files that could not be moved during the fix and NotePad will open with the final results at that time.

Post that information back here.

I will review the information when it comes back in.

Also let me know of any problems you encountered performing the steps above or any continuing problems you are still having with the computer.

1) Teatimer was set off.
2) The fix was indeed finished in a couple of seconds.
3) At the end I received a pop-up window telling me to reboot, so I did.
4) After the reboot was finished I got a notepad file from OTScanIT (content pasted below)

Explorer killed successfully
[Registry - Non-Microsoft Only]
Registry value HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\\MSServer deleted successfully.
[Files/Folders - Created Within 30 days]
[Files/Folders - Modified Within 30 days]
[Empty Temp Folders]
User's Temp folder emptied.
User's Temporary Internet Files folder emptied.
User's Internet Explorer cache folder emptied.
Local Service Temp folder emptied.
Local Service Temporary Internet Files folder emptied.
File delete failed. C:\Windows\temp\JETBA0B.tmp scheduled to be deleted on reboot.
Windows Temp folder emptied.
RecycleBin -> emptied.
Explorer started successfully
< End of fix log >
OTScanIt by OldTimer - Version 1.0.19.0 fix logfile created on 10212008_210533

Files moved on Reboot...
C:\Windows\temp\JETBA0B.tmp moved successfully.

5) I did not encounter any difficulties at all.
6) At the startup of my laptop the "rqRLdAss.dll"-message appears to be gone.

I only started my laptop once since the fix. After I have send this reply I will start it again and keep you posted.

Hi Rob,

That log looks fine.

If there aren't any other issues then go ahead and run the system normally for a day and then get back with me and let me know if there are any continuing issues.

If everything is Ok at that time, then we have some final cleanup to do and you'll be good to go. :)
