I'm working with large file sizes and needed to burn them all to different CD's because I am a neat freak.

I was working with files near 3-4 GB so I decided to pick up some DVD format disk and stop with the multiple disks on regular CD-R.

When ever I put in the DVD disk I just get a *spin, stop* every 2-3 seconds. And it never reads the disc. However, with Regular CD-R it sees it, no problem...

Working on a IBM ThinkPad R52. Disc drive sais DVD on it so I figure it's compatible with that format.

There are DVD-ROM drives (which only read) and DVD-burners (which burn and read).

http://archive.laptopmag.com/Review/IBM-ThinkPad-R52.htm Scroll down to the paragraph with "hard drive" underlined.

Take your pick.
By using the links on the left, you'll be able to narrow down your options.
Samsung, Lite-On, and LG make good burners.
