Hi .

Not to be redundant...what is the current status of your system today, right now?

What is wrong?

Thanks.

Have you checked Device Manager to see if there are known problems with any hardware items?

Device Manager - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Device_Manager

Device Manager Basics - http://www.cybertechhelp.com/tutorial/arti...-manager-basics

Do you have an XP CD?

System manufacturer and full model description?

I have lost the arrow button on the task bar (beside the clock)

That's called a chevron

from http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm
Icons - Notification Area - Chevron Missing
[[For some users, setting the very first icon to Always Hide, restores the
arrow.]]
