Hi, I've got a slightly odd issue.
I've recently built a new pc (hp dc7800) with XP and office 2007 - the problem I have is that after about 24 hours of use (well left on over night) i wont be able to get any context menus or see the performance tab in the task maniger if it loads at all.
Closing a window usualy lets it work for a short period before it happens again.

The pc is a E6550 with 2gb of ram which should be more than enough memory.

Cheers
Dan

Hi .

Tried running chkdsk /r from the Start/Run window?

If not, try it and make sure that there is a space between the k and /.

I'm surprised every day by the number of issues that running this command will resolve.

What state is it in when left on?
Screensaver on or off? Hibernation or Stand-By?
Is the monitor or hard driver set to power down after a set length of time in Power Options?
I would suspect a corrupt video driver

why won't my laptop work?

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around

It's left in a 1/2 way though something state.
Screensaver will come on at some point it's set to not hibernate or standby but the disks will spin down after 20mins.
