My computer was slowing down alot lately, so I have tried to do all the normal stuff with msconfig and the three finger shuffle (ctrl, alt, delete).
My computer now actions about 10 commands and then freezes. I have gone into msconfig and start up and noted all the programs that do not need to fire up on start up. I have also gone into task manager and noted that there are up to 90 processes that are running on start up. What I now dont know what to do is how to remove the programs from start up and task manager?? I also note that there are 9 svchost.exe in the task manager processes...surely not all of these are legit? I dont know how to find out which is which and where! I have Windows XP, and Panda Internet Security which I now have little faith in!!!
All help and advice will be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks for your time

User friendly - Codestuff Starter:
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/Starter.html
A little more intense - Autoruns:

At the top of the forum page, you'll see tabs labeled Startup list and File Database. Be sure to check there before turning things off. When in doubt, post a question

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around
