There is no accepable upgrade path...from XP Home to XP Professional.

If you want to replace one with the other...you must buy either an OEM or retail version of the O/S desired, not an upgrade version.

I just recently upgraded my laptop from XP Home to XP Professional.

Do you have a full version of XP Pro? - this allows you to upgrade from the CD instead of doing a clean install.

What is the error message that you are getting?
