When I close down XP it starts up again right away, as if I have chosen restart option. Any idea why this could be happening? This has occurred since I fitted a zip drive to my PC but I can't understand why this should prevent the PC from closing down properly. Many thanks - Jim

Go to Control Panel | System | Advanced tab

In the Startup and Recovery section, click Settings button

In the System Failure section, you will see a checkbox Automatically
, uncheck it.....

I have a funny feeling that you may well get a blue Stop screen.

If you do, make a full note of the stop screen it gives you, and post back
