I have a Toshiba A200 laptop with windows vista OS.

I am facing the following problems with my system now.

1) If I put the system in sleep/ hibernate mode, it doesn't wake up, even if I press the power switch. Then I have to remove battery to make the system off
2) whenever I shutdown the system (with power supply on), it restarts by own, after shutdown.

this started one week ago

please help me to resolve these issues.

Do you have SP1 installed?

Open the control panel, then click on 'power options'. Has the configuration changed from your original settings?

whenever I shutdown the system (with power supply on), it restarts by own, after shutdown.

This can be an indication of a bad driver. Seeing how you're also having problems with hibernation, I would suspect a corrupt video driver

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around

There are 2 different types for that model A200
A200-ST2401
A200-ST2402
A200-ST2043

The first two use an Intel chip, the third one uses an ATI chip. There's a difference

Look at the stickers on the bottom of the laptop

When i tried installing the driver software, it shows an eror message-"This computer doesnot meet the minimum requirements for installing the software"

and then i tried to update the driver for display adapter, it shows-"the best driver software is already installed"
