when i on my computer earlier. the processes in my task manager became 103 and my normal is only 33. the new ones where all SNDVOL32.EXE and when i restarted my computer. it was gone.



is that a virus?

As far as I know, SNDVOL32.EXE controls the volume settings on your computer.

Search your hard drive for this file and report back the locations it is found.

Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2


there are two of them, it took me a while though, cause everytime i search for it i get errors. but the last one it found it

sndvol32 that has an icon of a volume control is in the C:\WINDOWS\system32


the other one

SNDVOL32.EXE-3833480b7.pf ----- C:\WINDOWS\prefetch



i already run my antivirus mcafee but it didnt detect anything.

Those locations are legitimate.

As a double check, you could upload the file to Jotti for analysis.
