Whenever I go to Administrative Tools, Task Scheduler, I get the following error:

"The task image is corrupt or has been tampered with. Use_feed_synchronization-{bunch of letters and numbers}"

After clicking OK, I get a similar error again.

"The task image is corrupt or has been tampered with. Reminders - tim"
tim is my username.

After OK'ing out of this, Task Scheduler appears to run normally. I haven't tried changing anything, but I was wondering what this error means?

I'm using Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1 full patched up to Sep. 2008.
Antivirus is Antivir Premium ver. 8 and all shields are up.

Thank you.

Just a shot in the dark:
1) Try SFC.EXE /SCANNOW
2) Try deleting the tasks that you've made, then remake them.

Ran SFC /Scannow....it did it's thing then closed the command prompt window.

Re-ran Task Scheduler....still same errors.

I did not add any scheduled tasks since I installed Vista last year.

Here's what I found in the Event log. There are many errors, but almost all of them say the same thing.

Here is the most recent one:

Level Date and Time Source Event ID Task Category
Error 10/6/2008 9:15:12 PM Microsoft-Windows-TaskScheduler 706

Compatibility module task status update failed "Task Compatibility module failed to update task ""User_Feed_Synchronization-{68741F37-E700-45B3-A28B-F87D80EC8B92}.job"" to the required status 0. Additional Data: Error Value: 2147942405."

In all of these errors the error value is always: 2147942405

Any other ideas?

More info on Event ID 706: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc735684.aspx

This article suggests it's a misbehaving application: http://kbalertz.com/138340/Trouble-Quittin...-Scheduler.aspx

The actual entry is located in the registry at: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Feeds\SyncTask (on my system)

2 suggestions:
1) Scan the tasks in Scheduled Tasks to see what is set to run at the time of the errors. Back the task up (just in case), then delete it to see if the error recurs.
2) Check you feed related programs to see if there's something that may not be compatible with Vista
