Nothing shows up in message boxes. Example: Control Panel, User Accounts. Page comes up with blue border, top line that says 'Back, Forward, Home'. Rest of page is blank. On the search box, the two columns and the dog are there, but nothing else. They are all like this. Can't do a system restore, that box is blank, too. I know I did something, but not what. Tried a registry repair tool which didn't help. I hope someone out there can. Thanks. Excentric

Yes, I've run every scan, adjusted every setting, changed colors, done any/everything I could think of.....I imagine a system restore might work, but I can't do that because the box is blank. I even tried things in the reboot menu at startup. I know I caused this, but I don't know how. I had been using Revo uninstaller, and must have inadvertently uninstalled something vital. I think. Thanks. Excentric

That was interesting. Thank you. But neither solution worked. I did not try the getting the file from a disc. However, while rooting around in msconfig, I noticed I could get a usable System Restore from there. Restored, and all is well. Thank you again for your help. I am saving the link you gave me just in case. excentric
