When i go to Msconfig and try to remove programs on the startup list, it doesn't recognize me as the administrator even though no one else has access to my home computer. Perhaps someone can tell me what I am doing wrong, in the user file I am listed as administrator.

Try this. Go to the tools menu at the bottom and run repair permissions.
