Hi
Despite uninstalling and deleting lots of programmes and files, I keep getting the messgae that disc space is crictical! I am wondering if there is a virus/trogen etc that may cause this?

I know I am being vague - but a bit stuck!

How much disk space do you have left and how much have you cleared in your cleaning?

i've seen an adware do this. have you checked how much space you really have? To check how much space you have left on your hard disc, open up my computer and right click on the hard disc icon and select properties, it will show you how much disk space is left.
