Hi Everyone,

I have just installed a fresh copy of Windows Xp Home ,Service pack 2 on an Advent 7003 laptop...............No problems there in it's self, however ,the majority of Windows updates will download but will not install.

I have read somewhere about this problem happening to other people but cannot find a related topic to help deal with it. Any help and/ or links would be appreciated.

Regards,

Tony.

Do this:

Copy the following to Notepad:

regsvr32 /s wuapi.dll
regsvr32 /s wuaueng1.dll
regsvr32 /s wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 /s wucltui.dll
regsvr32 /s wups2.dll
regsvr32 /s wups.dll
regsvr32 /s wuweb.dll

Then save it as wu_fix.bat then run the .bat file and reboot. Try Window update again and it should download and install OK after this.

You can use http://wiki.lunarsoft.net/wiki/Dial-a-fix to automate that procedure.

All you have to after you have copied it into notepad and saved it as wu_fix.bat, just double click on the file and it will run and fix your problem. Then reboot your computer, it's as easy as that...
