Since i downloaded Google Chrome my firwall keeps warning me that Google is trying to access the internet even if i do not have a browser open.

What information are they trying to gather?

Has anyone else noticed this?

If i uninstall Chrome will it take out ALL of the files that google implanted on my computer?

TMI!!!

Doesn't this trouble you? It does me!

I had the same problem, so I uninstalled it. I kept getting the notices so I went into my registry and removed what I found. Afterwards it dawned on me that I had not restarted my computer after removing Chrome. So maybe I didn't have to do any editing...

I don't know why it keeps trying to access the web, I didn't like that. Others have said that uninstalling took it all off so you can try that if you don't like it...

Thats a good point, but why does any program with the exception of an Anti virus product need to be updated every 24 hours?
Regards,

Alan.

On my computer this program trys to access the internet, as i said in my first post, whether it's running or not and it's not once a day. It's several times an hour. If i'm using firefox or ie it still wants to access the internet especially when i go to pages that have passwords.

Call me paranoid but i don't like anyone gathering information about my surfing habits.

As soon as i copy the bookmarks from Chrome it is history. Too bad because it's really fast compared to the other browsers.

Very helpful! Thanks.

Even though it's now unchecked i am still getting lots of Zone Alarm warnings.

As far as setting a block rule; i thought about doing that however just hitting deny somehow changed something in my antivirus which oddly enough might not be a bad thing. What i think it blocked is the advertisement that Avira launches full screen after each update. Oppps, i spoke to fast, Avira is not running and when i try to launch it it tell me that the xml file is corrupt. i had not problems until i downloaded Chrome

Kryptonite,

You're welcome

What do you mean "Even though it's now unchecked i am still getting lots of Zone Alarm warnings" Did you remove Chrome from the zone alarm firewall settings? Can you elaborate?

In msconfig there is a place to check or uncheck if you want it to run at start up. i unchecked it there and the ZA message cut in half...but i still get them. Today i was going to uninstall it from my computer and hope it doesn't cause problems elsewhere.
