Hi, no big deal but for some reason some of my programs (games, sims, paint etc) won't close cleanly any more but they were okay before I installed a printer last week.
I click on 'Exit' as usual to get out of the progs but two messages come up in quick succession with a beep- "Error:unhandled exception" and "Application error, click OK to exit", accompanied by a string of meaningless numbers.
Clicking the OK closes the progs alright but it's still a minor hassle, plus it could indicate an underlying fault that needs to be investigated, what do you think?
It started when I installed the printer (which works fine), so something must have happened, it's too much to be coincidence.

Try doing a System Restore.

Start> All Programs> Accessories> System Tools> System Restore.

When this opens make sure that "Restore my computer to an earlier time" is chosen, and click on Next>.

The dates appearing in bold are the dates that you can restore to, click on the date that you want and then click Next> to start the System Restore. This may take a long time to complete, and when it is done it will restart your computer. When the computer restarts and you have logged on as the administrator a Restoration Complete page will appear, click on OK to complete the process.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

as far as i understand by the problem, it is solely because some of the components for your printer are not being installed correctly. I advise you to uninstall the printer completely and reboot. Try using your computer for a while say an hour or two. If same problem persists , just let me know. If that doesnt happen , that will simply be a cause due to printer. This is what we call narrowing up the problems.Generally system restore wrks in the case where there are minor glitches but it is not successful all the time. The same problem happened with my pc when i installed ZTE broadband modem. Trust me , nothing will happen to your computer.

Just try it and after that post a reply.

I will give the details after that.

Okay I uninstalled the printer and the glitch went away for a whole day.
Then I re-installed the printer and the glitch came back!
What shall I do now?

PS- the printer is a new Epson SX100

Have you tried the latest version of the drivers from the EpsonUK website? Uninstall all the Epson stuff, then install the drivers (only the drivers) from this link: http://esupport.epson-europe.com/ProductHo...0I8I&tc=6#7

If that works, then you can move on to installing the other software from that webpage. Most times the CD that comes with the printer is outdated when you purchase it.

It is possible to have the most up to date drivers and for them to be corrupted. Uninstalling them will usually remove the corruption, but there's a chance that the corruption resides in the previous media that you used to install it.
