My problem is, I can't connect to the Internet (dail-up). It doesn't appear to be a problem with the modem, because I was able use it to dial my cell phone. It's not an ISP specific problem, because I tried to connect with both AOL and Juno with many different access numbers. There seems to be something that, once the connecting process gets to a certain point, won't allow it to go any further.

I have Norton anti-virus that came with my computer a year and a half ago, but I haven't updated the definitions at all. I also have an AOL Spyware scanner, which I just got recently. Neither of these found anything. I'm wondering what I should do, because if it is a virus that my current programs are missing, I can't get online with my computer to download anything to find it. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm using XP. Actually, its starting to look like a problem with my phone lines. The dial tone has really gotten messed up in the last few days, and it keeps getting worse. Hopefully when the phone company finally comes they can fix it. Thanks!
