I have a Acer 5510 Vista 32 laptop with ATI Mobility Radeon X1300 and Catalyst Control Centre (CCC) has stopped working completely. Iīve tried to reinstall from different websites and different versions but the program still shuts down on startup. Grew tired of it and uninstalled everything related to CCC (didnīt touch the driver for the X1300 though). The computer starts faster now and I still have 1280*px resolution, 32-bit color etc etc.

So, now for the question: does anything get worse (ie resolution, color depth etc) due to not having CCC installed or CCC is 'only' a different way to control the thing you can tweak in the windows control panel?

I don't use it. If you're a gamer, you might. If you haven't used it by now, don't worry about it

why won't my laptop work?

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around

Ok, so being without it doesnīt give me less 'screen-quality'? Sounds good!

But why would I want to use it if I was into gaming? What can CCC do that i canīt do in the control panel och game-menu?
