I didn't have any problems until the desktop icon for Internet Explorer disappeared one day. Now the only way I can open IE is by clicking on Windows Update in the Start menu or the Mail Alert button in Yahoo Messenger. That worked well for a while, but now it takes 5-10 minutes for an IE browser window to even open! What is going on here? I have Safari, and it connects immediately, so it isn't my internet connection.

Hi PCIlliterateGal.
Which version of windows are you using?
If you have XP, have you tried going to c:\program files\internet explorer, then right click>"send to desktop" to see if it places the shortcut for IE back on the desktop?

I have XP. Sorry, should've mentioned that.

I've looked under the IE programs folders and subfolders, I don't know which one to send to my desktop. Someone told me to look for iexplore.exe, but I don't see it.

It's getting worse. Last night it took IE 20 minutes to open!
