Hello everyone

I've got a user over in the HJT forum who has downloaded a corrupted windows update; or rather the download was corrupted in transit. If this was an XP or earlier machine, I could flush Windows Update's cache by running DialAFix ( http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/160132/how-to-use-dial-a-fix-to-repair-windows-internals-problems/ ) and pushing the "Flush SoftwareDistribution" button.

D@F does not support Vista however. Anyone know how to reliably do this on Vista?

The Software Distrubution folder is located in the Windows directory. Most often it's the DataStore.edb file that's corrupted. I'd suggest experimenting with it by copying the contents elsewhere and then emptying it.

Also, sometimes the System32\Catroot2 directory is also flushed when attempting this sort of fix. I'd consult the DAF wiki for more information on it - also the Lunarsoft forums are a good place to get info on it's actions.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
