Which is better, 2 9800 GT in a motherboard in 2 PCIe x16 SLi interface but x8 bandwidth or a single 9800 GTX?

Looking at the specs of a 9800 GT compared to a 9800 GTX, the GTX would win in performance. However, if the two 9800 GT cards are SLI'd the combined performance would outperform the GTX. That is, if the game or app scales well with SLI.

I say play it safe and get a GTX. Not everything works right with SLI and you can always get another one later on.
