I've been getting this problem a lot with my computer. I've scanned for viruses with many products, and some were found and removed successfully. But sometimes when I try to install certain programs, like Windows Defender, or a wireless network adapter driver, my computer gives me an error message like the one below is one of them... What does it mean, and how do I fix it? Thanks so much for your help [=

When did this problem begin? and how do you think it began? Did or have you got a virus on your computer?

I think you're still infected. The real Shell32.dll is a Windows system file - so it likely wouldn't generate this error message unless something has corrupted it, or is interfering with it. Have you performed any online scans to make sure that your system's protection hasn't been compromised? If not, here's a list of free one's:

(Be advised that some of these scanners will pickup things in "quarantine" from other anti-virus programs - so review the results carefully)
