Hi,

until recently my printer worked just fine. I have had a few other issues (Trojans and malware, topic posted here last week), but I have no idea if these are connected, hence a new topic.

We operate an HP Photosmart C5180 All-in-one PSC. The printer still shows on my PC under the 'All Programs' section. When I go to the control panel and look at printers, it is set as my default printer and when I attempt to print I get the usual printer box with the details of the printer in the dropdown box, ready to print as usual, I click okay and all seems well, the printer icon appears in the system tray, then nothing. I launch the printer queue thingie and my document is there in the queue. Then i get a system message saying that "the document has failed to print" and an exclamation mark appears on top of the printer icon in the system tray. In the meantime my Girlfriend is happily printing all sorts of colourful pages, photographs and documents from her laptop and it's happily lavishing all it's attention on her. I don't know what I've done to offend it.

Does anyone have any ideas, I don't get it, my printer hates me!

Thanks

Hammy

Did you ever finish up your malware issue with Rigel? From what I see you didn't. Your printer drivers could have become corrupted. I would totally remove the printer and software and reinstall

why won't my laptop work?

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around

Hi, thanks for your reply.

I'll finish off the thing with the SVCHost issue and then uninstall/re-install the printer and see what happens.

Thanks

Regards
