I ordered an Intel core 2 3gig processor and the P5Q Pro mobo (Asus) from newegg in a combo deal with free shipping for $274. Not a bad deal. Now I am looking for some suggestions on a PSU with modular cables that is around $80 or less (I am working w/a budget). I also would like some suggestions on RAM since this mobo can use Dual-channel DDR2 1200/1066/800/667 MHz.

I also have a qustion about RAM latency. I havent built a computer since '03 and havent kept up with this stuff. Why is the latency higher on DDR2? Is it because the throughput is greater? Also, since I am building this computer with a mobo that will support multi-core CPU's I feel like it is a good choice for future upgrades, but when will DDR3 become more standard and how much better is (if at all) is it then DDR2?

edit- looking for PSU between 500-650W.

I ordred an ATI 4870 GPU today and am excited to see that baby burn through Crysis. Can anybody suggest a good modular power supply for me?

Also I was thinking about setting up two HD's RAID 1. Is this overkill? Should I just get 2 HD's and image the main one with Windows on it?

Thanks hamluis for the articles! they helped a lot.

Corsair makes excellent modular PSU's. The 4870 will do fine in Crysis, however, many of the settings will have to be set to medium though. Nevertheless, you will still get a good framerate.
