Hi all~
when starting my computer yesterday after being shut down all day, it automatically started in safe mode and I can't get it back to normal mode. I've tried running Lenovo's rescue & recovery which did a full system check - and everything came back normal. I then tried to run a "System Restore" and check the SW_Preload (C:) drive (which I'm assuming is my hard drive), but it brings up an error message : "SW_Preload (C:) has errors. ....Detected file system corruption on SW_Preload (C:). Check the disk for errors". So I click on "Check the disk for errors" but it says it cannot not check because the disk is in use... So I am lost and do not know what to do from here to get my computer back to Normal Mode. I have Windows Vista. I think I am supposed to check for programs or drives that have errors, but I don't know where to look for those, what will happen after I test each program and how to tell if it has errors ( will it give me a big message saying "ERROR"? And what would I do after finding a program with an error? Or....? In Safe Mode, only some programs are showing up anyway. Thank you for any help you can give!!

Hi, Thanks for the idea... but when I clicked on it, it took me to a help page for Windows XP. I am using Windows Vista, does that make a difference? Should I still use the directions given to me for XP fix? It that same link you sent me, I did a search for "fix disk errors in Windows Vista" and got no results found.
Thanks.
