Hello, My grandpa is trying to get his photos off of his SD card.
I just set him up with a clean install of XP Pro on his desktop
He has an on board usb card reader like 15 - in - 1 or something like that.
He puts in his SD card and trys to acsess the drive D: since that is the slot for the sd card
Then the window locks up for a few min then he gets a pop up message saying:
"The semaphore timeout period has expired."
He has already tried other camera cards with no change.
Any ideas?

I can't find anything definitive, error message seems to occur with various hardware components.

I'd try running chkdsk /r on the card...try the card on a different system/device...try other cards with the reader...all in an attempt to localize the problem.
