Hello, Newbie With A Slow Computer

Just came here via a PC Magazine recommendation. It's been a year or so since I last reformatted my hard drive so everything's slowing down. I thought I'd look around and see if I could speed things up a bit without resorting to drastic measures just yet, so here I am.
