I want to install sopcast because I want to watch sports and stuff like that. The problem is that it requires a registry change which is common with many viruses. So I'm wondering if anybody knows if this is a safe program or not.

Hi .

Like everything else...it's use-at-your-own-risk.

As far as being "safe"...I don't think any P2P software is particularly "safe", since (IMO) it seems quite possible that one is giving access to one's system to total strangers and hoping for the best.

Download.com and other sites offering this program...are not noted for unsafe downloads. But that doesn't seem to mean a lot.

Most torrent programs in themselves are not unsafe...but a great deal of the torrents themselves (the traffic) is loaded with malware (IMO).

Pay attention to the above. What you see is not always what you get - sometimes it's much more!

We don't want to see you here posting an HJT Log asking for help to clean up your system.
