Linux Ubuntu To A Xp Laptop

Ok just recieve this acer aspire 3680 laptop as a gift its so slow and people have been tell me that ubuntu would go great with this laptop so i like i am great with computer but i dont know so many commands and things like that. so my question is where can i go to learn more about this os and is there any tutorials and guides that i can read and i will want to game window games and i dont even know what to do for that

How about you get right to the meat:

Linux conventions, see both pages.

And for a buttload of more, pertinent and direct, commands and all that...see this forum. Those links at the top of the page are exactly what you're looking for.
