Click on the Accept button and install any components it needs.
  • The program will install and then begin downloading the latest definition files.
  • After the files have been downloaded on the left side of the page in the Scan section select My Computer
  • This will start the program and scan your system.
  • The scan will take a while, so be patient and let it run.
  • Once the scan is complete, click on View scan report
  • Now, click on the Save Report as button.
  • Save the file to your desktop.
  • Copy and paste that information in your next post.

Hello yooooz  Welcome to the BC HijackThis Log and Analysis forum. I will be assisting you from here on out and will need some time to look over your log.

I ask that you refrain from running tools other than those we suggest while we are cleaning up your computer. The reason for this is so we know what is going on with the machine at any time. Some programs can interfere with others and hamper the recovery process.

Thanks,

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune & save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Under Main "Select Files to Delete" choose: Select All.
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
  • If you use Firefox browser click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
  • If you use Opera browser click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
  • Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
Note: On Vista, "Windows Temp" is disabled. To empty "Windows Temp" ATF-Cleaner must be "Run as an Administrator".

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.
  • Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
  • Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
  • When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Then click Finish.
  • MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
  • On the Scanner tab:
    • Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected.
    • Then click on the Scan button.
  • If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
  • The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
  • When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
  • Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
  • Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad.
  • The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.
Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you may be asked to reboot your computer so it can proceed with the disinfection process. Regardless if prompted to restart the computer or not, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware. MBAM may make changes to your registry as part of its disinfection routine. If you're using other security programs that detect registry changes, they may alert you after scanning with MBAM. Please permit the program to allow the changes.

When completed plese post another RSIT log(there will be only one this time) along with the log from MBAM

You have a Trojan on your machine which attempts to steal passwords from games such as MapleStory, Legend of Mir and World of Warcraft. It has the ability to spread itself via removable disk such as USB drives as seen here.

We want to remove it and I am also going to give you instructions for the use of a Flash Drive disinfector.

Go to Start Run type: regedit OK.
  • On the leftside, click to highlight My Computer at the top.
  • Go up to File Export
    • Make sure in that window there is a tick next to "All" under Export Branch.
Leave the "Save As Type" as "Registration Files".
      Under "Filename" put RegBackup.
  • Choose to save it to C:\
  • Click save and then go to File Exit.
Open Notepad, (Start button, click on Run, type in Notepad, and click OK) copy & pastes the following block of text into Notepad.

REGEDIT4[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\mountpoints2\{6329de7e-7d78-11dd-a01b-00188ba5b4e2}]

Click on 'File', then 'Save as'
Select 'Save as type:' as All Files,
Save the file to the desktop as fix.reg. Close Notepad.
Doubleclick on fix.reg and answer Yes when prompted to add the contents to the registry.

Go to Start > My Computer
Go to Tools > Folder Options
Click on the View tab
Untick the following:
  • Hide extensions for known file types
  • Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)
You will get a message warning you about showing protected operating system files, click Yes
Make sure this option is selected:
  • Show hidden files and folders
Click Apply and then click OK

Use Windows Explorer to find and delete this file:

G:\krg62.cmd

As an example:
To delete C:\WINDOWS\badfile.dll
Double click the My Computer icon on your Desktop. Or click on the Windows KEY + E.
Double click on Local Disc (C:\)
Double click on the Windows folder,
Right click on badfile.dll and then from the menu that appears, click on Delete

Restart your computer

Please download Flash Disinfector.exe by sUBs and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click Flash_Disinfector.exe to run it and follow any prompts that may appear.
  • The utility may ask you to insert your flash drive and/or other removable drives. Please do so and allow the
utility to clean up those drives as well. Hold down the Shift key when inserting the drive until Windows detects it to keep autorun.inf from executing if it is present.
  • Wait until it has finished scanning and then exit the program.
  • Reboot your computer when done.
Note: Flash_Disinfector will create a hidden folder named autorun.inf in each partition and every USB drive that is plugged in when you ran it. Don't delete this folder...it will help protect your drives from future infection.

Then download and scan your flash drive with "ClamWin Portable Antivirus".

Format a USB Drive (scroll down)

Note: If you are having trouble formatting your usb drive, hold down the Shift key when inserting the drive into your computer until Windows detects it. This should keep autorun.inf from executing automatically which may interfere especially if its related to a malware infection. Normally the autorun.inf commands are harmless but when this file has been modified (infected) it can cause problems. Flash drive infections usually involve malware that loads an autorun.inf file into the root folder of all drives (internal, external, removable). When the removable media is inserted, autorun looks for autorun.inf and automatically executes another malicious file to run on your computer. When a flash drive becomes infected, the Trojan will infect a system when the removable media is inserted if autorun has not been disabled.

When completed please post another RSIT log.

hi there,

Thank you very much for your help and prompt replies  Really appreciate it..

I have drives C, D E, F on my computer.
I have a problem as I'm not sure what G drive is as I have removed the usb connections that i have. Is could be my Portable HDD, PSP or Printer Drive (whenever i plug in my printer's through USB an additional drive letter will appear). Which one of these can I find the trojan in?

Thank you!!

Your welcome for the help, glad we can do it.

What we are going to try to do here is plug one device in at the time starting with the Portable HDD. As you do it check to see if the file is showing up and proceed to the next. Let me know how that works.

Hi,

I am unable to find G:\krg62.cmd in any of the drives i mentioned below. Could it be some other thumb drive devices that does not belong to me? If so, how do i remove it. Thank you.

Yes, please go to Windows Explorer and delete the following file in bold:

C:\rsit\info.txt

After that run RSIT again and it will produce two logs this time. Please post both of those.
