I recently had a virus on my computer and went through many steps to get it cleaned. Somewhere along the process, I lost my printing capabilities. When I try to Add a Printer, I get an error message saying "Print spooler service is not running." I tried to start the Print Spooler and received an error message saying "Could not start the Print Spooler service on Local Computer. Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified."

I'm not sure what to do from here. Please advise.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

I tried reinstalling the printer software and here is the error message that I received. When I clicked on the Fix button, it delayed for about 15 seconds and then came back with the same window (with Fix button greyed out).

Error message:

Issues Stopping Installation

This service is stopped and needs to be running for installation to continue. Click Fix to have the installer start the service.

Service: Spooler
Manufacturer: Microsoft
Description: Loads files to memory for later printing.
Version: 0.0.0.0

Go to>
Start
Run
Type services.msc
Click ok
Scroll down to print spooler.
Right click the entry
Click restart.

Check that its startup type is set to automatic as well
Right click the entry for print spooler
Click Properties
Select Automatic in the Startup type dropdown box.
Click apply
Click ok.
