The Caps lock and Insert keys give me untold angst at times. Here are a couple of vb scripts that I found somewhere on the net a couple of years ago, that will get rid of them for good (this is not reversible).

Caps Lock key:

set WshShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
WshShell.SendKeys "{CAPSLOCK}"

Paste into a text file and save as caplock.vbs

Insert key:

set WshShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
WshShell.SendKeys "{INSERT}"

Paste into a text file and save as insertkey.vbs

Then all you have to do is double click on the file to install the fix.

This is for Win XP , I do not have Vista so I cannot say for sure if it will give the same results...

This script will "deactivate" the Caps lock key?

If so, that's great because I keep hitting it by mistake on this laptop!

Why wouldn't it be reversible? Wouldn't a script with the reverse commands do the trick?

That's the problem Musky, I do not know how to reverse the script. I suppose if you did a system restore back to the restore point you made before you run the script. On my systems they drop off after week as I have a minimal restore point setting.

It's a wait till I reinstall Win XP on my two boxes...

Here is a reversible way to disable or remap the caps lock key.

This works in Vista and XP.
